Built for training under the Australian sun

Performance compression gear is built to sit close to the body, move with your shoulders and reduce friction during sport. For outdoor training, the extra benefit is coverage. UPF rated fabric helps cover high exposure areas while still feeling like athletic gear.

Tested fabric. Clear claim. No fake hype.

Combatra’s black and grey 85% polyester and 15% spandex rashguard fabric was tested to AS 4399:2020 and received a Rated UPF of 50+ with an Excellent Protection classification.

Important: The test result applies to the material tested. It does not assess full garment design, body coverage, other batches or all colours. This page does not imply endorsement by ARPANSA or the Commonwealth of Australia.

Where UPF gear fits

BJJ and MMA

Useful for outdoor drilling, warm ups, open mat sessions and training where you want coverage without restricting movement.

Outdoor sport

Useful for running, hiking, fishing, cricket, golf, cycling, beach training and long periods outside.

Work and lifestyle

Arm sleeves and compression layers can help cover exposed skin during driving, tradie work, gardening and outdoor tasks.

How to choose

For upper body coverage: choose rashguards or sports bras based on activity and fit.

For lower body coverage: choose compression pants or compression shorts based on heat, movement and coverage needs.

For daily sun exposure: arm sleeves are easy to add or remove without changing your full outfit.

Custom UPF team gear

For this UPF guide, custom team gear should focus only on products that can genuinely sit inside the UPF supported range. That means custom rashguards, arm sleeves, sports bras, compression pants and compression shorts where the fabric or product has valid UPF support.

Safe wording: UPF 50+ protection applies only to products and fabrics where stated. Custom options, colours, panels and garment coverage may vary.

UPF 50+ clothing FAQs

Is UPF clothing better than sunscreen?

They work differently. UPF clothing provides physical coverage for covered areas, while sunscreen is applied to exposed skin. For outdoor activity, both can work together.

Can I wear a UPF rashguard for BJJ or MMA?

Yes. A rashguard can be useful for grappling, training and outdoor sessions because it is made to move with the body while covering the upper body.

Does the UPF rating apply to every Combatra product?

No. UPF claims should only be used on products made from UPF rated material or products with valid test support. Product pages should clearly say which items are UPF 50+.

Does garment coverage matter?

Yes. UPF fabric can only help protect the areas it covers. Fit, sleeve length and body coverage still matter.

Can teams customise UPF 50+ gear?

Yes, teams can customise selected UPF supported products such as rashguards, sleeves, sports bras, compression pants and compression shorts where stated. UPF claims should not be applied to custom items unless the product and fabric have valid support.
